The diesel-powered Nissan Titan XD is not a pure half-ton truck and not a true heavy-duty pickup. It’s in an unusual spot between the two, which is where Hellwig Products went to find a platform for its 2016 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show build.

The Hellwig Ultimate Overland 2016 Nissan Titan XD comes equipped to provide the comforts of the indoors in the middle of the outdoors. It’s been beefed up for getting across rough terrain with a hardcore front bumper, winch, and fender flares. The suspension has been worked over with a rear sway bar and air springs from Hellwig, and a Stage 3 conversion from Icon Vehicle Dynamics.

When it’s time to rest after a long day of overlanding, the Lance 650 camper is ready to accommodate up to three weary travelers. They just have to decide who sleeps on the queen-size bed (and gets to watch the 19-inch LED flatscreen TV) and who doesn’t. A forced air furnace and air conditioning allow the high-riding hotel to be used during all four seasons. Hungry adventurers can either eat by the campfire or come inside, raid the fridge, and use the camper’s two-burner range and microwave, then chow down at the dining table.

The onboard toilet and shower, which use fresh water from a 22-gallon tank, make Mother Nature a little easier to deal with. A 95-watt solar panel harnesses the heat of her yellow gaze. A power side awning and manual rear awning help deflect it during breaks from traversing unfamiliar territory.

We wouldn’t mind spending a few nights in the Hellwig Ultimate Overland 2016 Nissan Titan XD. Would you?
