Porsche Sure to Stun with 2018 Lineup at N.Y. Auto Show
German automaker will debut four vehicles for the North American market at this week’s New York International Auto Show.
Porsche has been extremely busy of late with the release of new sports cars and other high-performance vehicles. Enthusiasts and Porsche fans that are planning a visit to the New York International Auto Show, which officially starts later this week, are in for a treat, as the German automaker released its lineup for the show. And, as one would expect, it’s a good one.
At the auto show, Porsche plans to debut four new vehicles for the North American market. The first of which is the 911 GT3. The latest variant of the track-focused beast has a new naturally-aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six engine that pumps out 500 horsepower and 339 lb-ft. of torque. My oh my. In addition to the new engine, the GT3’s PDK gearbox has been tuned for rapid-quick shifts, giving the car the ability to get to 60 miles per hour in just 3.2 seconds. And the best bit is the fact that the GT3 can be fitted with a proper six-speed manual transmission.
The second vehicle in the lineup, the Panamera Sport Turismo, is another gorgeous machine. Unlike the previous Panamera, the new one is actually good looking and, get this, is a wagon – the holy grail of body styles. The model will have four available engines, including the 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 in the Sport Turismo Turbo that generates 550 horsepower. In case that doesn’t come as a shock, a 550-horsepower wagon that can get to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds is sure to drop jaws.
The future looks very green, and while that sounds kind of boring, Porsche has found a way to make it extremely exciting. The new Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid, which will be on display at the auto show, proves that things won’t be that bleak in the future. Utilizing the 4.0-liter V8 that’s in the Panamera Turbo and gaining additional oomph from an electric motor, the sedan has a total of 680 horsepower and 626 lb-ft. of torque. Clearly, Porsche has some incredible plans for fuel-efficient cars of the future.
Lastly, Porsche also plans to display the five new 911 GTS models. The new additions to the automaker’s lineup include the 911 Carrera GTS, 911 Carrera 4 GTS – both vehicles are available as a Coupe and Cabriolet – and 911 Targa 4 GTS. The GTS models’ 3.0-liter flat-six engines have larger turbos, equating to 20 more horsepower than previous GTS-branded cars.
With this kind of lineup, Porsche’s stand at the New York Auto Show is sure to be packed with enthusiasts throughout the entire duration of the show.
